A Hearty Kiwanis Greeting to You,

As we head straight into the year of 2005, I’m reminded that Kiwanis is all about service, especially to the children of our local community and, yes, to our global community as well.

Recently while studying my Sunday School lesson I realized that our Kiwanis mission is really a heavenly mission. To quote from the lesson: The one who ministers to a child, a weak and often helpless being — ministers to Jesus. He taught that the one who ministers to a child is building relationships with God. To be great then, don’t do what the world expects of you; do what God expects of you. Touch others, particularly those in need, in Jesus’ name and you will be truly great.

What about you? Perhaps you feel that you don’t have time to participate in the Read-a-Book program, contribute to the Skip-a-Meal project, build a ramp, or become involved in our many other Kiwanis projects, Jesus has a message for all of us: Open your eyes, open your hearts; there is a world needing My touch, and you are My hands and heart.

Henry David Thoreau is credited with saying, “It is not enough to be busy; so are the ants. The question is, What are we busy about?”

Sure, you are just one individual and your small acts of nurture may seem inconsequential, but in the life of another individual you can make an eternity of difference.

Can the Vidalia Kiwanis Club count on you this year?

Your President,

Debbie Kittrell
