The sponsored youth committee establishes Builders Clubs, Key Clubs, and Circle K clubs in schools. Committee members attend sponsored-youth club meetings and encourage and promote activities of these clubs. Committee members also offer assistance to these clubs to ensure successful project implementation; they actively participate in sponsored youth club meetings and projects.
The Sponsored Youth committee maintains a consistent involvement with the Key Clubs of Robert Toombs Christian Academy, Toombs County High School, Vidalia Comprehensive High School, the Circle K Club of Brewton-Parker College, and the Builders Club of J.R. Trippe Middle School.
The most valuable concept of K-Club relations that a Kiwanis club can have is "partners in service." Putting this object into practice is the strongest step we can take to achieve a satisfactory Circle K, Key Club, and Builders Club sponsorship. Many factors separate the generations but there are two common denominators that can unite students and the adult community: service and leadership development. Consequently, the best approach to good Kiwanis and K-Club relations is through jointly planned and executed service and social projects.
The Sponsored Youth committee takes the initiating role in these activities and should be included in all planning.

The youth services committee researches and implements projects that serve youth, ages six and above. Areas of concern include social and interactive needs of youth, development of self-esteem and character, career guidance, and funding of education.
The Youth Services Committee is responsible for projects to help children and youth. In our club the Major Emphasis Committee focuses on the specific needs of young children, prenatal of age five and the Sponsored Youth Committee has charge of Key Club, Circle K and Builders Club.
A tremendous range of projects available to the Youth Services Committee
include but not limited to the following:
1. Support for youth activities, such as Boy
Scouts,
Girl Scouts, Camp
Fire, and 4-H.
2. Programs to deal with problems such as drug abuse,
missing children, child abuse
and the need for
character education.
3. Educational and cultural events, such as music
festivals, art shows, and trips to
museums.
4. Safety education for children about fires, crime,
and traffic.
In recent years our Youth Services Committee has been very active in Special Olympics, the Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation and Operation Know, and the Annual Talent Showcase.

YOUNG CHILDREN: PRIORITY ONE
The "Young Children: Priority One" committee conducts needs assessments within the community and implements projects, based on the discovered needs, to help young children, prenatal through age five. Projects focus on safety and pediatric trauma, maternal and infant health, child care and development, and parent education and support. The Worldwide Service Project (WSP) is the primary project under the umbrella of "Young Children: Priority One." Kiwanis International has identifies the Worldwide Service Project, Iodine Deficiency Disorder as the primary fund raising effort through the year 2000. The Young Children Committee will provide education and leadership to our club to enable the Kiwanis Club of Vidalia to make it's contribution to the IDD campaign.
In addition to the Worldwide Service Project, our club can have a tremendous long-term impact on crime, drug abuse, school drop-out rate, adolescent pregnancy, and other deep-rooted societal problems right here in Vidalia if we are willing to become organized advocates for young children.
