Citizen of the Year

Great communities are built by people who are willing to give their time, talents, and hearts in service to others. The Citizens of the Year recognition celebrates individuals whose dedication and contributions have made a meaningful difference in Vidalia and the surrounding community.

The Kiwanis Club of Vidalia originated the prestigious Vidalia Citizen of the Year Award in 1943. The recognition became such an important community event that it was later adopted as a co-sponsored program with the area's major men's civic clubs.

Over the years, the program continued to evolve. The Citizen of the Year recognition eventually joined with the Vidalia Women’s Club Lady of the Year program, creating the Citizens of the Year tradition celebrated today.
